Game Manufacturer EA surprised last week by friend and foe to announce that a new version of the popular shooter Battlefield will be given away for free. The company hopes to earn money with Advent liabilities and the sale of virtual goods. Battlefield Heroes, a cartoonist variation on Battlefield 1942, will start in the summer for free download and contains no ads remarkable enough in the game itself. Only on the official website of the Action Games will be on display advertisements.
Many Massive Multiplayer Online Games since last year will also be free soon after a release. For example, games such as Red, Pirates of the Caribbean and Fury soon seen free on the Internet, in the hope that users pay for extra content of the game.
Inside Gamer now asking whether free games now to be a trend or a lasting phenomenon that will go even further in the future. How do you see the future of games? We just play games online through sponsored advertisements? Or are we just more expensive, because we have to buy all sorts of extra content for a longer game play to keep and what of advertising? Do you prefer a free game that is packed with advertising or rag, you prefer a ‘clean’ version?
